The Air League of Monaco gathered on the 21st of October 2025 at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall for a keynote by Captain Niall Downey — Airbus A330 pilot, founder of Framework Safety Group, and author of the book Oops! Why Things Go Wrong.
From his journey from cardio-thoracic surgeon to commercial airline pilot, Captain Downey focused on a critical theme: how we manage human error across industries.
Last night’s event reaffirmed that whether you’re flying an Airbus or running a complex healthcare system (or indeed any organisation with high‑stakes outcomes), safety isn’t about eliminating human error entirely — it’s about designing systems that anticipate it, learn from it, and continuously improve. Captain Niall Downey’s message is one that resonates beyond aviation and is relevant to any leader keen on building resilient, high‑performing organisations.
The evening was well-attended by ALM members, who engaged actively with Downey during the Q&A session.
Stay tuned for the next Air League of Monaco event on the 13th of November!
